Day 3 (Waitomo Caves & Rotorua0):

It was a bright, sunny & beautiful day for a long drive. We checked out early morning from our hotel and drove south towards our next destination “Waitomo”.

The drive was the beginning of a scenic treat to our eyes. On our way came many picturesque views, some of which we captured in our camera and the rest in our hearts J to be cherished for the rest of our life. We stopped at one of the drive rest points, where we had breakfast (sandwiches and hot coffee thanks to groceries from “countdown”).

At Waitomo we took a guided tour of the caves. The guide was really professional and the visit was climaxed by a boat ride drifting silently on the underground river under the milky way of millions of glow worms on the cavern roof above us. It was really romantic and we felt as if we have entered an entirely different world.

Finally it was time for us to head towards the lake town of Rotorua, where we reached after another 3 hours of drive. We were tired however satisfied with what we had seen and experienced.

Day 4 (Rotorua & Taupo):
After a good night’s sleep it was time for some adventure. This was the day when we did something about which we will always feel proud of and will never forget in life, we decided to go for “SKY DIVING”. Yes we jumped of an airplane from 12,000 ft height and that too on our honeymoon :) .

We did it at Taupo and would recommend the same to everyone. Reason : when you are falling from an airplane the only thing which comes to mind is the moment in which you are living, and at that moment what you get to see is a spectacular view of the spherical earth, water, lush green grounds and dense forest.

Of course there are many things which I cannot describe in this blog and can only be experienced by the reader once he/she experiences it, however trust me sky diving is worth a try.

How did it happen?

It was a lazy morning, we wandered in the hotel lobby to decide upon what to do for the day. We picked up a few pamphlets and stumbled upon a great deal combo “SKY DIVING + JET BOAT RIDE”

Immediately we got our bookings made and headed for the adventure. We were picked up from the city centre of Taupo and taken to Huka falls for our Jet Boat ride:

JET BOAT RIDE: Hukafall experience is something which one will never forget. The spectacular waterfall with incredible water level is an amazing site. To add to it, you slide past the same at a speed of 80km/hour in a jet boat. I can still feel my heart pump when I remember the 360 degree spin taken by the boat:)
The speed and precision with which the driver operated the boat was simply fabulous and worth admiration, he took us zoom past the rock cliffs with just centimetres to spare.

Would recommend this as a must do activity for anyone who visits New Zealand.

SKYDIVING: The experience of jet boat had not yet fully sunk in, and it was time for us to sky dive. It happened really fast, once we reached the sky diving centre, in no time we had our jumpsuits on. The instructor gave us on ground instructions, the do’s and don’ts etc. and once we were comfortable with the process, we boarded the plane.

The plane ride was not bad, though there was a scale to measure the altitude which was hanging right in front of us. As the altitude was increasing so were our heart beats. The time was coming nearer to jump of the plane.

As we reached 12,000 ft height the fun began. I sat right at the door of the plane, it was very cold outside though I didn’t feel anything, as my mind was racing somewhere else :) . The instructor asked me whether I was ready to skydive and I simply nodded, before I could give a second thought he swayed back and forth with me and jumped.

Suddenly I was in middle of nowhere falling towards the earth at a speed of 200km/hr. First 5 seconds I didn’t realise anything, however the next 25 seconds are something which I will never forget in my life.

It was nice to share the experience with my life partner and to listen to hers. After the adventure we were at new spiritual highs of our life, we discussed and got to know a lot about each other’s ideology about life.
